Makeup Show NYC

The Makeup Show has become one of the most anticipated trade shows for makeup artists and this year they celebrated their 10 year anniversary! This show takes place every first weekend in May at the Metropolitan Pavilion in NYC. This year the show did not disappoint!

Makeup artists and industry pros come together to not only shop, but get education from leading top professionals in the makeup industry.

The energy at the show was amazing! This show is a lot less chaotic than IMATS NY because you have to show industry creditenials in order to get into the show. You can show a business card, professional state license or makeup artist union card.

I was so excited to see my sorority sister and friend Angelique Velez, founder and owner of Breakups to Makeups. Her custom makeup bags, tee shirts, hats, tote bags have, and accessories have been all over social media to every magazine. Now her items will be available for purchase at Sephora. She is a super talented makeup artist and entrepreneur and if you haven’t already checked out her site I highly suggest you do. The highlight of my afternoon came by total surprise while I was checking out what vendors were upstairs,   when all of a sudden I looked up and saw KAT VON D at her Kat Von D Beauty booth! The line to take a picture with her was only five people at that time so I hopped in line too! She is beyond beautiful, her skin is porcelain, and she is the most gracious woman ever! She expressed so much gratitude to every person, thanking them for their support, and after each picture was taken made sure each person was happy with the photo! It was a cool moment!

So overall I had a great day at this year’s Makeup Show NYC! I got a lot of great things for my professional kit and some items for myself 🙂
